It's been a strong few months for BioSkryb Genomics, and I wanted to share an update from our perspective at Anzu.
The economics of genomics have shifted significantly. In the past two years, the cost of sequencing a single cell's whole genome has fallen by more than 95% from several hundred dollars per cell to somewhere between $12 and $15. That's not a gradual decline. It's a step-change that makes experiments, clinical applications, and large-scale cell atlases feasible today that were not economical 24 months ago. At the same time, the AI community is increasingly looking for high-fidelity biological training data and recognizing that much of the genomic data in existence is too noisy to train reliable models on. Together, these trends create a tailwind for BioSkryb that we believe they’ve been building toward for years.
The science continues to support the thesis. The field is converging on an important idea: our genomes are not static. Every cell in our body accumulates somatic mutations over a lifetime, and the resulting clonal landscapes appear to carry meaningful signal about cancer risk, treatment resistance, neurological disease, and biological aging. A review published in Cellthis spring framed somatic genomics as an emerging engine for drug discovery. That framing, from researchers at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and elsewhere, lines up with what BioSkryb has argued for years. Understanding clonal biology requires single-cell resolution, genome fidelity, and ground truth, not bulk sequencing.
BioSkryb’s presence at AACR in April reflected that momentum. At this year's meeting in Chicago with over 25,000 attendees, BioSkryb's technology was featured in four presentations. The most prominent was a plenary address by Dr. Dan Landau, Director of the New York Genome Center, who highlighted his group's single-cell genomics work to an audience of more than 10,000 scientists and cited BioSkryb’s platform by name. Three additional presentations at the same meeting showcased research enabled by BioSkryb technology across different cancer contexts. We see that kind of visibility, earned through the science itself, as valuable for building credibility in this field.
One paper is worth calling out specifically. A study published this June in Experimental Hematology & Oncology by investigators at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Moffitt Cancer Research Center applied BioSkryb’s ResolveOME™ platform to circulating tumor cells from metastatic colorectal cancer patients, profiling genome and transcriptome from the same single cell from a blood draw. The team characterized chromosomal instability architecture, reconstructed tumor phylogenies, and described the immune cell ecosystem alongside the tumor cells, without a tissue biopsy. They also cited BioSkryb’s BaseJumper® analytics platform by name, which the team believes represents the first independent third-party validation of its combined wet chemistry and bioinformatics platform. We see that as a notable commercial milestone.
BioSkryb is also planning a major launch later this year.For the first time we're aware of, researchers will be able to profile DNA, RNA, and the methylome from the same single cell. Methylation is the epigenetic layer that changes with age, disease progression, and environmental exposure. Combined with BioSkryb’s existing whole-genome and transcriptome capabilities, the team believes this will give researchers a more complete view of cellular identity and function than currently available approaches. This carries potential implications for cancer diagnostics, aging biology, and the kind of ground-truth training data that AI models in medicine are likely to require.
BioSkryb Genomics remains a focused, capital-disciplined company and we believe they are well-positioned as the field catches up to where we think the science is heading.
